Richard Money - v Torquay United, 4/11/2006
I WOULD like to start by making it categorically 100% clear that I felt the support for the team against MK Dons last Saturday was magnificent.
Virtually everyone in the ground stayed vocal in support of the teams' efforts right until the end and could see that the players gave their all in what was a difficult match against very tough opposition.
In last week's post-match Press Conference I merely expressed my surprise that there were still one or two supporters who we are failing to win over despite our positive start to the campaign. Some of the following days headlines in no way reflected my comments in that Press Conference.
I find it surprising that anyone with Walsall FC at heart can find anything to moan about at this moment in time. Sure, everyone knows that we are currently involved in a series of difficult home fixtures, but we've got to stick together and be professional in our outlook both on and off-the-field in order to achieve our goals and make the progress that we all strive.
From the first day that I arrived here, I have tried to rid the club of negative thoughts and comments in order to get positive action from everyone concerned. If we are to be successful, this is the way it must be and I call upon each and every one of you to continue to get behind the team to help make 2006/07 a season to remember for all the right reasons.
To come out of our last game without conceding a goal was a very good effort from the players. MK Dons are a tough team with a League One strike force who are definitely going to be up there challenging at the end of the season.
They gave us our hardest test at home yet and to come through it by keeping a clean sheet was pleasing. It means that we have taken four points from two very difficult games in the past few weeks and now we face another tough test with the visit of Torquay United.
Ian Atkins' side will come here well-organised and difficult to break down. They will work hard for each other and it's going to be another game where we will have to roll up our sleeves and battle hard for the points on offer.
