Richard Money - v Wycombe Wanderers, 14/10/2006
AS OUR visitors' position in the table suggests, it is going to be a stern examination of our credentials against a very good side who I believe will be there or thereabouts in the promotion race come the end of the season.
Sheer grit and determination earned us a point in our last game at Chester City. In difficult conditions, it is fair to say that we weren't at our best, but we rolled our sleeves up and battled for what we could get. In the end our reward was a point and a clean sheet.
Promotion-winning teams have the ability to grind out points when they have to and I am delighted that we managed to do that on this occasion. The point keeps us at the top of the table, but we know only too well that being in this position means we are there to be shot at and people will always be looking to beat the team at the top.
It is an added pressure that I believe my players can deal with. I am lucky to be working with such a talented group of players who have responded well to the various situations that we have faced so far this season.
It was important that we made a good start to the campaign and we are currently where we want to be. The bar keeps on rising all of the time and we have to keep on performing and producing week in, week out.
We have been playing with good shape and organisation and have been resillient when we need to be as well as playing football whenever we can. These are the ingredients needed to be successful in this League.
We have the opportunity to cement our place at the top of the table, but we are just taking each game at a time and looking to keep our points total ticking over.
The support that we received at Chester was outstanding with over 1,000 of you there and I would like to thank each and every one of you who made the trip. There promises to be a fantastic atmosphere within the stadium on Saturday, so I hope that you can play your part in helping us secure what would be an excellent three points against one of our main rivals.
RICHARD MONEY
