Richard Money - v Plymouth Argyle (Carling Cup first round), 22/8/2006
TONIGHT I am looking forward to leading us into our Carling Cup campaign with a tough tie at Championship outfit, Plymouth Argyle.
After the way we performed in our opening three League games, there was always going to be a time when we got a performance like the one in the first half at Lincoln on Saturday, but the pleasing aspect was that the players rolled their sleeves up and managed to get themselves out of it.
I tried to be as constructive as I could during the half-time interval because there was no point wading in and losing it with the players. They knew themselves that the display wasn't up to scratch and we made changes accordingly which basically saw us go 2-4-4 in order to try and get the goals that we needed.
Football is about 90 minutes - or 93 minutes in this case - and we showed that we have the ability to hang in there. The players had to stand up and be counted and show plenty of character, something that they did and even though we weren't at our best, we responded well in the second half and battled out a point at a place where I don't expect many teams to get anything this season.
Once more we were given excellent backing from our supporters who stayed with us right until the bitter end and helped us get our reward. It's a long trip this evening and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who will be present at Home Park.
We know that it is going to be a difficult tie against a team from The Championship, but it will be a good marker for us and we will be hoping to make progress into the next round. Winning is a habit that I want us to get into regardless of the competition.
RICHARD MONEY
