CHELTENHAM TOWN TEAM TALK
THE FACT that we are still in contention for the play-offs has lifted our spirits and we're not going to give up on claiming that sixth place.
There will be a great atmosphere on Saturday from both sets of supporters. It's a game where both teams need the points, but I'd much rather be in our position that theirs.
We will go there and enjoy the occasion, but we have to be aware of the task in hand. Cheltenham have lost just one of their last ten home games and have also done the double over Leeds this season. They will show total commitment and honesty and I am full of praise for what Keith Downing has achieved on a similar budget to ours.
He deserves a lot of credit and we will have to be 100% in order to take anything from the game.
It's the first of three tough games over the next week. Fitness levels are not really an issue at this stage of the season, it's more about keeping the lads fresh, alive and bright in order to get as many points as we can and then see where it takes us.
Looking back at our last game on home soil against Tranmere Rovers, I thought that it was a really brave performance. It's never easy to bounce back from conceding an early goal, particularly in such an important game as that, but the players showed tremendous character.
There was a real togetherness between the players and the supporters; the backing that we received was the best that it has been here in my two years. They gave us what we asked for and contributed to our victory; let's hope for more of the same at Whaddon Road.
