LOU TINKLER:Former Plymouth Argyle winger who joined Walsall in June 1948 and made 18 third division (south) appearances for The Saddlers before moving to Chingford Town in June 1949. Later with Kidderminster Harriers, Nuneaton Borough, Lye Town and Cradley Heath, he died locally in April 1995.

LEE TODD:Ex-Stockport County full-back who joined Walsall on loan from Bradford City in September 1999 and made his solitary League appearance in that month's 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester City. He joined Rochdale in August 2000, then had a brief spell with Mossley before moving to Stalybridge Celtic.

NEIL TOLSON:Young striker who turned professional with Walsall in December 1991 and scored once in nine League games before moving to Oldham Athletic in March 1992. He joined Bradford City in December 1993, then played for York City, Southend United, Leigh RMI, Kettering, Halifax and Hyde, where he is now part of the coaching staff.

RAY TRAIN:Midfielder who moved to Carlisle United in December 1971, then played for Sunderland, Bolton, Watford, Oxford United, Northampton and Tranmere before rejoining Walsall in August 1986. He netted 11 goals in 91 League games overall and has since held various coaching and scouting posts, including a spell in caretaker-charge of The Saddlers.

DEREK TREVIS:Midfielder who joined Walsall from Colchester United in September 1968 and netted six goals in 65 League outings before moving to Lincoln City in July 1970. Later with Philadelphia Atoms, Stockport County, San Diego Jaws and Las Vegas Quicksilver, he died in the United States in July 2000.

IAN TURNER:Goalkeeper who joined Walsall on loan from Grimsby Town in February 1973. He helped Southampton win the FA Cup in 1976 and returned to Walsall in January 1979, playing 42 League games overall for The Saddlers. Later with several non-League clubs, he is now an engineer in the oil industry.

GUS UHLENBEEK:Experienced Dutch full-back who joined Walsall on loan from Sheffield United in March 2002 and made five first division appearances while at Bescot Stadium. He moved to Bradford City in August 2002, then played for Chesterfield, Wycombe Wanderers, Mansfield Town and Halifax Town.

ALBERT VINALL:Left-back who had limited top-flight opportunities with Aston Villa prior to joining Walsall in August 1954. He missed just one match in 1954-55 and made 78 League appearances until a broken leg ended his career, then joined the coaching staff. Later scouting for Villa, he died in June 1999.

JACK VINALL:Albert's older brother was a centre-forward who played for Sunderland, Norwich and Luton before World War II. Moving to Walsall in July 1946, he made two League appearances, then managed Worcester City from January 1948 until November 1950. He died in Worcester in May 1997.

JAMIE VINCENT:Former Bournemouth and Huddersfield left-back who joined Walsall on loan from Portsmouth in October 2003, making 12 first division appearances while at Bescot Stadium. He joined Derby County in January 2004 and has since had spells with Millwall, Yeovil Town and Swindon Town.

ADRIAN VIVEASH:Tall central defender who was an influential figure in Walsall's 1998-99 promotion success and netted 13 goals in 202 League outings before moving to Reading in July 2000. He joined Swindon Town in July 2003, then played for Kidderminster Harriers, Aldershot Town and Cirencester, where he is now manager.

MICHALIS VLACHOS:Versatile Greek International midfielder who played for AEK Athens and Portsmouth before joining struggling Walsall in February 2000. He was unable to prevent relegation that year and scored once in 11 League games for The Saddlers, returning to Greece with Ionikos in May 2000.

PAUL WADDINGTON:Former England Schoolboy midfielder who turned professional with Walsall in November 1978 and made his League debut in the following month's 1-0 defeat at Brentford. He played 19 third division games for The Saddlers before joining Worcester City in July 1982, then several local clubs.

STEVE WADDINGTON:Midfielder who made a significant contribution to Walsall's 1979-80 promotion success and scored 13 goals in 130 League games before joining Port Vale in August 1982. He later played for Macclesfield, Northwich, Leek, Rocester, Winsford and home-town Nantwich until banned sine die.

GARY WALES:Scotland U-21 striker who played for Hamilton Academicals and Hearts before joining Walsall on loan in January 2004. His solitary goal in seven League games came in The Saddlers' 3-3 draw at Nottingham Forest. He moved to Gillingham in March 2004, then returned to Scotland with Kilmarnock.

ARNOLD WALKER:Former Grimsby wing-half who joined Walsall in May 1958 and was a fringe member of the 1959-60 fourth division title squad, making seven League appearances for The Saddlers. Settling in Humberston, he worked for Ross Group, then was a sheet metal worker until retirement.

JAMES WALKER:Long-serving goalkeeper who was ever-present for Walsall in 1997-98 and starred as The Saddlers won promotion in 1998-99 and 2000-01. He made 403 League appearances before joining West Ham in July 2004 but suffered a bad injury in their 2004-05 Championship play-off final triumph. He co-wrote a book centred around his time at Walsall called 'Size Isn't Everything' during his Testimonial Year.

MARK WALLINGTON:Young goalkeeper who made 11 League appearances for Walsall before joining Leicester City in March 1972. The England Under-23 International was ever-present in six successive seasons and moved to Derby County in July 1985, then Lincoln City. He has since become a teacher in Sleaford.

ALAN WALSH:Striker who set Darlington's goalscoring record, then played for Bristol City and joined Walsall from Besiktas in October 1991, making four League appearances for The Saddlers. Later with Glenavon, Huddersfield, Shrewsbury, Cardiff and Hartlepool, he was Bristol Rovers' community officer.

DAVE WALSH:Former Irish International centre-forward who starred for West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa before joining Walsall in July 1955. He netted six goals in 20 League games for The Saddlers, moving to Worcester City in July 1956. After running a sports shop in Droitwich, he now lives in Thurlestone.

WILF WALSH:Former Arsenal and Derby County reserve inside-forward who joined Walsall in March 1947 and netted four goals in 33 third division (south) games while at Fellows Park. Moving to Hednesford in July 1948, he was later player-boss of Redditch and Hednesford. He died in December 1977.

HENRY WALTERS:Versatile right-half who was ever-present in two consecutive seasons and scored twice in 254 League games for Walsall prior to joining Barnsley in July 1953. He was subsequently Wombwell's player-manager, then worked at Cortonwood Colliery until retirement and died in June 1994.

GAVIN WARD:Much-travelled goalkeeper who had spells at West Bromwich Albion, Cardiff, Leicester, Bradford City, Bolton and Stoke before joining Walsall in August 2002. He made seven League appearances for The Saddlers, moving to Coventry in August 2003 and since playing for Barnsley, Preston and Tranmere. Had a spell on loan at Wrexham in 2007/08.

STUART WATKISS:Ex-Wolves and Crewe central defender who joined Walsall from Rushall Olympic in August 1993, scoring twice in 62 League outings while at Bescot Stadium. He moved to Hereford United in February 1996, then played for Mansfield Town before managing The Stags and Kidderminster Harriers. Currently assistant to Alan Buckley at Grimsby Town.

ANDY WATSON:Striker who played for Halifax, Swansea, Carlisle and Blackpool prior to joining Walsall in September 1996. He featured in The Saddlers' 1998-99 promotion success and netted 15 goals in 84 League games before retiring in June 1999, since coaching back at Halifax's School of Excellence.

JIM WATSON:Teenage left-back who made his solitary League appearance in Walsall's 2-1 defeat at home to Brentford in May 1956. Joining Birmingham City in August 1957, he then played for Dartford, Rugby, Stourbridge, Bedworth and Lockheed Leamington. He managed VS Rugby and AP Leamington.

TOMMY WATSON:Scottish winger who joined Walsall from Peterborough United in September 1967 and netted 17 goals in 86 League games for The Saddlers before moving to Gillingham in June 1970. He later played for Maidstone United and Gravesend & Northfleet. Now living in his native Lesmaghow.

BOBBY WEBB:Young winger who joined Walsall from Leeds United in March 1955 and netted three goals in nine League outings while at Fellows Park before moving to Bradford City in July 1955. Joining Torquay United in July 1962, his career was ended by a broken leg. He later worked for McCanns in Otley.

BOB WESSON:Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper who helped Walsall take Liverpool to an FA Cup fourth round replay in 1967-68 and was 'Player of the Year' in 1968-69. He made 192 League appearances for The Saddlers before joining Burton Albion in July 1973, then was landlord of the Royal Oak pub in Kenilworth.

GARY WEST:Ex-England Youth central defender who played for Sheffield United, Lincoln City, Gillingham, Port Vale and Lincoln again before joining Walsall on loan in September 1992. He scored once in nine League games, then had spells with Boston United, King's Lynn and Gainsborough Trinity.

TREFOR WEST:Former West Bromwich Albion reserve right-back who joined Walsall in May 1964 and scored once in 12 League games before moving to Nuneaton Borough in January 1965, then played for Folly Lane. Settling back in Coventry, he worked at Triumph, then maintained property and is now a professional angling tutor.
