BUCKLEY NIGHT RAISES FUNDS FOR WRACK
SADDLERS' goalscoring legend, Alan Buckley was special guest at the White Horse pub in Green Lane, Walsall recently.
He was joined by former team-mate and current Walsall FC Community Manager, Mick Kearns for a question-and-answer session.
"It was a most enjoyable evening," said Kearns. "There was a packed house and it was nice to be able to reminisce with supporters about the past."
An auction took place on the night and items that went under the hammer included the original transfer documents from Buckley's return to The Saddlers from Birmingham City, an Alan Buckley portrait and a signed Walsall FC shirt and ball.
"We raised a total of £750 from the various auctions," said pub owner, Dave Beckett. "Part of it was donated to the Darren Wrack Testimonial Fund with the remainder divided between three charities.
"We hope to stage other similar events featuring Saddlers' legends as we turn the pub into a shrine to the club with an array of memorabilia on display.
"All Walsall fans will be given a very warm welcome."
