SADDLERS' stars past, present and future turned out in honour of Darren Wrack on a wet evening here at the Banks's Stadium.

Wolves kindly provided the opposition and fielded a strong side, but it was Walsall who had the first opportunity when Kevin Betsy saw his shot saved by Graham Stack.

The visitors took the lead on ten minutes when Stephen Elliott lifted the ball over Clayton Ince. Shortly afterwards Freddie Eastwood went close with a powerful drive.

On 16 minutes Mark Little's low drive zipped off the greasy surface but was well kept out by Ince before a neat passing move by Wolves ended with Eastwood's shot stinging the hands of Ince.

With 30 minutes on the clock, space opened up for Betsy whose shot was blocked by Stack for a corner which was met by a brave header from Manny Smith that flew just over.

A clever ball by Tommy Mooney played in Alex Nicholls who crossed for Ishmel Demontagnac to volley goalwards but his effort was bravely blocked.

In the next attack, Nicholls' shot was spilled by Stack as Mark Bradley failed to direct his close-range header into the net. At the other end, Ince saved well from Stephen Ward.

The half ended with Ince denying Eastwood as he twisted and turned inside the area before Stack did well to keep out Betsy's effort after he linked up with Mooney.

There were wholesale changes at half-time, including the introduction of Walsall legends such as Martin O'Connor, Dean Keates, Don Goodman, Adrian Viveash and James Walker.

An inviting cross from Richard Taundry was just too high for youth teamer, Josh Craddock. The youngster was a positive impression and almost caught out Wayne Hennessey as he hesitated over a clearance.

There was a good low save by Walker before Wolves doubled their advantage on the hour when Eastwood fired home.

Shortly afterwards it was 3-0 as Kevin Kyle bundled the ball home. The lively Eastwood saw a shot blocked as he caused more problems inside the area.

'Wacka' was replaced by Bertrand Bossu whose first task was to pick the ball out of the net as Eastwood strode through to make no mistake.

After Don Goodman flashed a shot wide, Charlton Davies replaced O'Connor.

Craddock showed confidence to get in a shot that was just off target. There was a double change as Viveash and Aaron Brown were replaced by Hassan Bacchus and Manny Smith, who returned to the action.

Man of the moment, Darren Wrack came off to a standing ovation as Harry Harris replaced him.
