AFTER bagging his third goal of the season on Saturday, Anthony Gerrard today outlined his desire to add to that tally between now and the end of the campaign.

The Saddlers' defender thumped home what proved to be the winning goal at Whaddon Road as Richard Money's Men recorded a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Cheltenham.

More adept at stopping the opposition scoring at the other end, Gerrard was nonetheless pleased to be on the scoresheet as The Saddlers maintained their push for the play-offs.

"That was my third (of the season) but I could have had a few more if the keepers hadn't been making so many great saves!" he joked. "Three's not a bad total but I'd like to make it four or five by the end of the season.

"It was a strange game in some ways. First-half the weather was lovely; we we're playing down the slope and looked in total control. Second half the weather turned and we were playing up hill and they got on top.

"We held out though. We needed the win to keep the pressure on teams like Leeds and it's set things up nicely for the last four games."

The first of those remaining games takes place this evening as Bristol Rovers visit the Banks's Stadium (kick-off 7.45pm). It will be another tough test but one that Gerrard believes the team are more than capable of overcoming.

"Bristol Rovers isn't an easy game but no game is easy at this time of the season," he added. "We've won our last two games and, if you look back to the last game here, the supporters were influential.

"If they can get behind us again tonight, then hopefully we can get the win we need. It's another must-win game because we need to close the gap between Leeds and ourselves.

"We want to make the play-offs and to do that, we have to keep winning."
