SADDLERS' physio Jon Whitney has today confirmed that Paul Boertien has broken his big toe but also revealed that he is confident that the full-back will be back in action in the near future.

An x-ray revealed he had fractured his left hallux (big toe) and the 29 year-old is due to have a follow-up scan next week.

All being well, the former Derby man will then resume full training although, as Whitney explained, Boertien has been working hard to ensure his fitness levels do not drop during his short spell on the sidelines.

"Paul has been taking part in a number of hydro-sessions such as swimming in order to keep him ticking over. He has also been working on the exercise bike and has been doing a lot of single-leg rowing.

"There are no long-term concerns with the injury and hopefully he will be okay to resume full training next week and be involved in the final few games of the season."
