THE SADDLERS' youth team ran out 3-1 winners at Rochdale to maintain our position at the top of the Puma Youth Alliance table.

"We started brightly and deservedly went ahead within the opening 20 minutes when Mark Lowe set up Edward Ryan to find the net," said Head of Youth, Mick Halsall. "We then allowed our hosts to get back into the game and were fortunate to go in at the break still in front.

"We were slow coming out of the blocks at the start of the second period and Rochdale managed to get themselves back on level terms.

"It prompted a couple of tactical changes and this inspired us to start playing again in the final 25 minutes to eventually get our reward as Richard Davies tucked home from the penalty spot and James Travis completed the scoring late on to seal an important win."
