YOUNGSTERS SHAKE THE SHAKERS
THE SADDLERS' youth team ran out worthy 3-1 winners at Bury on a blustery afternoon.
"It was another difficult pitch," said Head of Youth, Mick Halsall. "We found it difficult to get into our usual rhythm early on and went a goal down within the opening 25 minutes.
"It was then a matter of battling against the conditions and getting to half-time in order to regroup.
"We never really asked enough questions of the Bury back-line in the first half, but we put in a much better performance after the break and it didn't take long for us to get back onto level terms.
"Edward Ryan and Mark Lowe combined well from a short corner to cross for Tom Schwarz who headed home.
"I knew that if we kept our shape and continued to work hard, we would go on to win the game and so it proved as we notched two quick goals.
"The first came from Joe Howes before Lowe capitalised upon some hesitation to fire home.
"It was a pleasing display, particularly in the second half. It's now a case of the players staying on top of their game and applying themselves to see where it can take them this season."
