WESTON EXTENDS SADDLERS' STAY
RHYS Weston has today signed a contract extension to keep him at Walsall Football Club until 2010.
The Welsh International began his career at Arsenal where he made one Premiership appearance for The Gunners - at Newcastle in May 2000 - before moving on to Cardiff City in a £300,000 deal in November 2000.
During his time at Ninian Park, Weston figured in almost 200 games during a six-year stay. Spells with Norwegian outfit Viking FK and Port Vale followed before he arrived at the Banks's Stadium in the summer of 2007, initially on a one-year deal.
The 27 year-old has made 38 appearances for The Saddlers in all competitions so far this season and expressed his delight at extending his stay with the club.
"I'm delighted," he said. "It's a nice feeling to have my future sorted out and I can now concentrate on the run-in with nothing else to think about other than helping this club to achieve promotion.
"I've had a great start to my Walsall career but you don't win anything in March, so I'll be doing all I can to help the team get promoted."
"Rhys has become an important member of the team," added Saddlers' boss Richard Money. "His performances have become more and more consistent as the season has progressed and we hope that, over the next two years, he will continue to be an important player for Walsall Football Club."
