THE SADDLERS reserve team slipped to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest at The Lamb.

With Forest turning up in their white away kit, Jimmy Mullen's side donned the red of Tamworth for this fixture.

The Pontin's Holidays League Central Division leaders got their noses in front with a long-range effort from Mark Byrne.

Matt Thornhill doubled the advantage just before the interval as he was alert to a loose ball following a Rene Gilmartin save.

Walsall went close as Troy Deeney headed over from Alex Nicholls' cross, whilst Charlton Davies missed an opportunity following some neat link-up play with Deeney.

Nicholls had a couple of efforts that were off target as Richard Taundry also tried his luck from distance before Forest snatched a third five minutes from time through substitute, Richard Tate.
